What you will need to sell online:

• Shopping Cart System: provided by Code 9 Design
• Merchant Account: basically a bank account that you must have to accept credit cards, you may already have one if you except credit cards in a brick and mortar operation. You can go with out this if you use paypal exclusively as your payment solution.
• Payment Gateway: you will need this service to handle the online processing of the transaction. Usually you will be charged a monthly fee and small percentage of each transaction. Some of the most common payment gateways used are: Authorize.net, Paypal, Verisign, and Linkpoint
• SSL Certificate: not required, but a good idea. What an SSL certificate does basically is encrypt the credit card data that is being sent. Pages that start with https:// have a SSL certificate and are secure. The cost for and SSL Certificate can range from $50-$100 per year.
